Accessing Tasmanian Government funding

TasVET Supplier Program
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) seeking to access Tasmanian Government funding through grant programs must first meet eligibility requirements through Skills Tasmania’s TasVET Supplier Program.
TasVET Supplier eligibility is the first step for Skills Tasmania to establish a high‑performing network of RTOs that can deliver Tasmanian Government subsidised training where and when it is needed. It supports a system that is flexible, industry‑aligned, and capable of meeting Tasmania’s current and emerging skills priorities as outlined in the Tasmanian Skills Plan.
For RTOs, the TasVET Supplier Program provides a framework that rewards high‑performance with streamlined access to funding opportunities and longer‑term funding agreements. It also strengthens Skills Tasmania’s ongoing engagement with training providers, supporting continuous improvement in training quality and compliance with funding requirements.
The TasVET Supplier Program replaces the former Skills Tasmania Endorsed RTO system and its associated application guidelines.
RTOs that are currently endorsed by Skills Tasmania under the former process will need to re-apply. Transition arrangements are in place for 12-months to ensure that existing endorsed RTOs retain their status until an application to the new Program is submitted and a determination is made.
TasVET Supplier Program application process
The application process requires an RTO to:
- Read the TasVET Supplier Program – Applicant Guidelines. The application process is designed to help structure applicants’ responses to the mandatory eligibility and information requirements and qualitative assessment criteria as set out in these Guidelines.
- Apply for TasVET Supplier Program eligibility through SmartyGrants at the following link: https://skills.smartygrants.com.au/TasVETSupplier.
Contact and further information
If you have any questions, please contact the Quality, Policy and Compliance team at TasVETSupplier@skills.tas.gov.au.
Do I need to be a TasVET Supplier to be able to deliver training in Tasmania?
No. RTOs that are not an eligible TasVET Supplier are able to deliver training but will not be able to access Tasmanian Government funding and are not required to report data to Skills Tasmania. However, the RTO must report to the Office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) and National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) on a quarterly basis. Please refer to the TASC and NCVER websites for further information.
Skills Tasmania Grant Agreement
The Skills Tasmania Grant Agreement and Standard Conditions Manual (PDF 1.1 MB) (PDF 1.1 MB) sets out the terms and conditions for delivery of Tasmanian Government subsidised training.
All eligible RTOs who receive funding through a Skills Tasmania grant program will enter into this agreement on behalf of the Crown in Right of Tasmania.
