A registered training organisation (RTO) is an organisation registered to deliver training and assessment services to learners.
RTOs are registered by either the state authority (if Victorian or Western Australian RTOs) or with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) (if they operate outside Victoria and Western Australia).
All RTOs must meet the VET Quality Framework, which has 5 elements, one of which is the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations. These Standards assess the RTOs ability to provide nationally-consistent, high-quality training and assessment services.
Training.gov.au (TGA) is the official national register of information on RTOs. TGA contains information on what training is offered across Australia and which RTOs provide this training. My Skills also maintains a list of training organisations, including a list of current Tasmanian RTOs and a map of their location.
