Apprentices and trainees must be employed under an award or other appropriate industrial arrangements. Apprenticeship wages will vary according to industry and year of contract.
Apprentices and trainees are entitled to the same rights as other employees under their awards such as leave, worker's compensation and superannuation contributions. Employers must ensure that they make the wages and conditions of employment clear to their trainee or apprentice.
Skills Tasmania does not determine these matters and cannot give advice about entitlements, wages or awards. For more information contact the organisation responsible for providing advice and information regarding entitlements, wages and awards, the Fair Work Ombudsman on 13 13 94 or visit www.fairwork.gov.au.
