Tasmanian Training Awards celebrating excellence

NOMINATIONS OPENING SOON

In just under a month, nominations for the 2023 Tasmanian Training Awards will open.

The Tasmanian Training Awards put a spotlight on the achievements of individuals, training organisations and employers who use vocational education and training.

This year there are 14 categories (links to the nomination guides below):

Apprentice of the Year

Trainee of the Year

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year (apprentice/trainee or vocational student)

Vocational Student of the Year

School-based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year

VET in Schools Student of the Year

VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year

Equity Award for a Vocational Student

Equity Award for an Apprentice or Trainee

Industry Collaboration Award

Small Employer of the Year

Large Employer of the Year

Small Training Provider of the Year

Large Training Provider of the Year

High-Vis Army Program Update

The Tasmanian Government is delivering a $5 billion infrastructure program over four years. The 'High-Vis Army' has been developed to support a 25 per cent boost in the local workforce.

Significant progress has occurred with industry partners Master Builders Tasmania, Housing Industry Association, Civil Constructors Federation and Keystone Tasmania.

Energising Tasmania Training Market Development Fund

The Energising Tasmania Training Market Development Fund 2023 is open and will close 2pm on Thursday, 13 April 2023.

The fund supports the capacity building of training providers (including trainer recruitment, upskilling trainers and supporting trainers to relocate) as well as developing new courses, programs and delivery methods that meet the needs of the energy industry.

Study Tasmania – new website launch

The refreshed Study Tasmania website provides comprehensive information on study in Tasmania, employability support and general information about living and studying in the state.

It includes information and registration for various training and workshop opportunities to help students develop specific skills. These sessions cover a range of topics with the training and workshops run by industry professionals and designed to provide insights, knowledge and practical experience to students and help students develop the skills they need to succeed in their future careers.

Qualifications Reform Public Consultation Activities

The Australian Government’s Qualification Reform public consultation activities are currently underway and will help guide how VET qualifications may look in the future. Those engaged in the VET sector are encouraged to provide input.

The online survey is available on the Department of Employment and Workforce Relations website until 17 March 2023.
