Skills for Work – Information for Learners

Building skills for Tasmania's future

Investing in training

All working aged Tasmanians are able to access training to build their skills and career prospects.

And you may be eligible to access subsidies to help pay for your training through TasTAFE or an endorsed private Registered Training Organisation (RTO) of your choice.

Your choice - but think carefully

Good training is extremely valuable. It can help shape your working life and prepare you for new job opportunities. Good career advice will help you make wise choices when enrolling, regardless of whether you are just starting out, up- skilling or retraining.

Take the time to gain some understanding of industry, training, career pathways and job prospects.

While there are many attractive opportunities for subsidised lifelong learning, the training you choose and complete now may affect your future subsidised training options. Priority for subsidised places will be given for learners seeking their first Certificate III qualification.

Choices - where can I go for training?

Training for working aged Tasmanians is subsidised by the Tasmanian Government. This includes subsidies for a National Training entitlement for a first Certificate III qualification and qualifications leading to Certificate III.

Apprentices and trainees can access subsidised training through User Choice,an RTO listed on RTOs with a Funding Agreement to deliver subsidised training for apprentices and trainees . and TasTAFE continues to offer a range of courses state-wide. Other qualifications available are shown at RTOs with a Funding Agreement to deliver subsidised training (excluding training for apprentices and trainees).
