Skills Tasmania

I'm looking to train new or existing staff

Congratulations on making the decision to train your staff. Investing in your staff’s skills development not only equips them with the skills and knowledge to do their job role, but also increases staff motivation and productivity, giving your business a competitive edge.

There are a number of ways you can upskill your staff:

  • vocational education and training – commonly known as VET, this provides whole qualifications or short courses that are nationally recognised. VET includes apprenticeships and traineeships;
  • non-accredited training, such as in-house professional development and other short courses, including free online training; or
  • mentoring, where another staff member or an external person with relevant business experience and knowledge can advise and guide your staff in an area of skills development.

The majority of Tasmanian Government funding programs and grants relate to vocational education and training.

Why choose VET explains the specific benefits of using vocational education and training.

See What is available through VET for more information on what vocational education and training courses you and your staff can access and how.
