1 Jul 2021 - Energising Tasmania now supporting more than 100 qualifications
The Energising Tasmania Training Fund is now supporting more than 100 qualifications that will provide key staff to support Tasmania’s clean, green energy future.
The $16.1 million joint Australian-Tasmanian government program provides fee-free training and qualifications to meet the predicted demand for skilled workers being driven through our major renewable energy projects including Battery of the Nation, Marinus Link, wind farm developments and the establishment of a green hydrogen industry.
Since opening in March 2020 with 15 identified core qualifications we have been working closely with the industry to expand the training on offer to cover more areas of expected skills need adding an extra 90 qualification to the list.
The fund supports workers to access fee-free qualifications and apprenticeships/traineeships with an additional $1 000 per learner also available to pay for non-tuition costs associated with their learning.
All up Energising Tasmania is expected to support as many as 2 500 training places through Registered Training Organisations across the state.
Based around the predicted workforce needs identified through the Energy Sector Workforce Development Plan, Energising Tasmania will grow the skills base and create a pipeline of ready and able workers across the renewable energy and related sectors.
The list now supports a range of training options across areas such as advanced manufacturing, energy, civil infrastructure and building and construction, giving learners skills that are not only specifically applicable in the energy sector but also easily transferable across industries as demand changes.
With more than $17 billion in infrastructure investment currently on the table to be realised over the next decade, Energising Tasmania will play a key role in making each of these major projects a reality.
The current round of applications remains open to Endorsed Registered Training Organisations until Friday, 27 August 2021 or until all funds are fully allocated.
