The Tasmanian Training Awards are conducted annually by Skills Tasmania and are well established as having a vital role in promoting excellence in vocational education and training (VET) in Tasmania.

In 1949 the first Apprentice of the Year Award was presented to Stewart Ingles, a young carpenter from Devonport.  The tradition of recognising Tasmanians for training excellence has continued every year since then with hundreds of individuals and enterprises acknowledged.

In these challenging times, it is important we recognise excellence and innovation in our vocational education and training system, as a skilled workforce will help keep our economy moving and maintain growth over the coming years.

The Tasmanian Training Awards are the pathway to the Australian Training Awards and are seen as the major promotion to raise the status and recognition of training in Australia.  Tasmania has an enviable record of success at the national awards and I am keen to continue that success by inviting eligible individuals and enterprises to participate in this year's awards.
