Fourteen awards are offered in 2009 - six student awards, five business awards and three equity awards.
Student Awards:
- Apprentice of the Year
- Trainee of the Year
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
- Vocational Student of the Year
- VET in Schools Student of the Year
- School-based Apprentice of the Year
Business Awards:
- Employer of the Year
- Small Business of the Year
- Training Initiative Award
- Registered Training Organisation of the Year
- VET in Schools Excellence Award
Equity Awards:
- Equity Award for an Individual - Apprentice or Trainee
- Equity Award for an Individual - Vocational Student
- Equity Award for an Employer
Winners of the Student Awards for Apprentice, Trainee, Vocational Student and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student will automatically represent Tasmania at the 2009 Australian Training Awards. The School-based Apprentice of the Year Award recipient must be a Certificate III student to represent Tasmania at the Australian Training Awards. All costs are covered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Business Award recipients will have their submissions forwarded to the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) for assessment by a DEEWR nominated selection panel. Shortlisted finalists in each award will be interviewed and invited to attend the presentation dinner in November where winners will be announced. All costs are covered by DEEWR.
There are currently no national equivalents to the Equity Awards or VET in Schools Student of the Year Award.
