National training strategies
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) creates national training strategies that define the broad vision and long term objectives of vocational education and training (VET) in Australia.
National strategies reflect a collective commitment by Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, in partnership with Australian industry, to VET.
They ensure the skills of the Australian labour force are sufficient to support internationally competitive commerce and industry and provide individuals with opportunities to optimise their potential.
Shaping our Future for VET 2004-2010 is the national training strategy. State, Territory and Commonwealth Ministers responsible for VET have agreed to the development of a national VET strategy for 2004-2010 to meet the skill needs of the nation.
