Tasmania participates in the National Training System. The VET System in Tasmania is based on industry advice and is delivered by a large range of registered training organisations, the largest being TAFE Tasmania. The VET System in administered by the Skills Tasmania.
Vocational education and training is governed in Tasmania by the Tasmanian Vocational Education and Training Act 1994 under the Minister for Education.
The Minister is advised by Skills Tasmania in planning vocational education policy, and by the Tasmanian Training Agreements Committee (TTAC). TTAC has executive powers in relation to the management of training agreements.
Skills Tasmania provides administrative support to the Minister and secretariat services to the Skills Tasmania Board and TTAC.
