Equity Support Program-Small Grants

Grants are available for projects commencing on or after 1 August 2009 which increase or support opportunities for people who may be experiencing barriers to participation in post compulsory vocational education and training and/or employment. Projects may involve individuals from the following groups:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • People with a disability
  • Women
  • Older people
  • Migrants and refugees

Because the program is designed to assist in the overcoming of barriers to participation, the fund is available for broad support projects which may or may not include accredited training.

Eligibility
Registered training organisations and community groups are eligible to apply. Projects with relevant community partnerships and innovative approaches for specific target groups will be viewed favourably.

Proposals are expected to be in the range of $5,000 to $20,000. Successful applicants will be required to report regularly on agreed funding, outcomes and milestones to be achieved.

  • Work Experience and Mentor Assistance - the mapping of skills/competencies in VET courses and mentoring/work experience activities to meet industry needs.
  • Small Business Training and Mentor Support - organisations assisting target groups to engage in small business training and set-up.
  • ?Upskilling our Workforce? Training Assistance - organisations assisting target groups to engage in workplace learning and career counselling.
  • ?Informing Employers? - promotion of training and employment of target groups to employers.
  • Skills Recognition Assistance ?organisations assisting target groups to access RPL.
  • Pathway and Career Planning support -pathway and career planning for target groups
  • Sector Networking -  supporting VET sector networking
  • Professional Development Assistance - capacity building to ensure inclusiveness.
  • ?Promoting VET? - promotion of VET to target groups and their support networks.
  • VET Achievers Promotion - promotion of achievements in VET and employment by target groups.
