User Choice - A National Initiative
Provison of Training for Trades Apprentices Request for Tender - closes 25 September 2009
The Tasmanian Government has decided to the progressive withdrawal of the restriction on access to public funding for the delivery of certain qualifications under User Choice arrangements. Skills Tasmania is therefore inviting tenders from suitably experienced registered training providers to apply for contracts to deliver these qualifications under User Choice arrangements to apprentices employed in Tasmania during 2010.
Training Organisations can submit applications only for qualifications specified in the Purchase Schedule which forms part of this tender and are included in their scope of registration at the time of lodging their tender.
Funding for Existing Workers in Traditional Trades Initiative
Existing workers, who may be employed at work sites in labouring, trade assistant or similar occupations, represent a potential pool of skilled labour. In many cases they already possess many of the trade skills required and could be recognised as qualified tradespeople through tailored recognition and gap training programs.
Existing workers wishing to undertake an apprenticeship in a traditional trade are now eligible to have their training funded under existing User Choice arrangements.
Qualifications which are eligible, valid at 14 December 2007, to attract User Choice payments under the initiative can be viewed on the Funded Apprenticeships & Traineeships List
and are marked "Funding for Existing Workers in Traditional Trades Initiative".
Note: Funding for a number of the qualifications is restricted to the Tasmanian Skills Institute.
