Productivity Places Program
The Productivity Places Program is a core element of the Australian Government's Skilling Australia for the Future policy. It is a joint initiative between the Australian and State Governments.
Skills Tasmania offers equity focussed training under the Skills Equip competitive tendering program. All registered training organisations are eligible to submit a proposal under the Skills Equip program.
Tasmanian Skills Investment Program (TasSkills)
The principal purpose of TasSkills is to enable the Government to respond to emerging skill shortages through tendered skill programs. This program enables registered training organisations to submit tenders for the delivery of a range of specified training programs funded from the Tasmanian Skills Investment Fund.
User Choice works in conjunction with the Australian Apprenticeship System, whereby apprentices and trainees (also known in some jurisdictions as Australian Apprentices) enter legally binding Training Contracts with their employers. The apprentice/trainee and employer negotiate with an RTO of their choice to deliver structured training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Employment may be full time or part time and the structured training may be delivered at the premises of the RTO, at the workplace, by various forms of distance education, or by a combination of any of the delivery modes. To find out more about Australian Apprenticeships, visit the Australian Apprenticeship website. All States and Territories offer User Choice, although some do not use the term.
The Joint Group Training Program (JGTP) is administered in Tasmania by Skills Tasmania, on behalf of the Australian and Tasmanian Governments.
The Program provides financial incentives to Group Training Organisations (GTOs) for strategies and initiatives, the objective of which is to encourage and improve the commencement and completion in Australian Apprenticeships in nationally agreed priority areas. Group Training Organisations.
Existing Workers in Traditional Trades Initiative
Enables existing workers wishing to undertake an apprenticeship in a traditional trade, who may be employed at work sites in labouring, trade assistant or similar occupations, to access funded training in their chosen trade. In many cases they already possess many of the trade skills required and could be recognised as qualified tradespeople through tailored recognition and gap training programs are now eligible to have their training funded under existing User Choice arrangements.
