Probation period

A probation period applies to apprentices/trainees undertaking training under an approved training contract as follows:

  • If the apprenticeship or traineeship is less than 24 months in duration, the probationary period is one month.
  • For all other apprenticeships and traineeships the probationary period is three months.

These periods can be extended upon application. For more information contact Skills Tasmania on 1800 655 846.

Any changes to the Training Contract such as a transfer, suspension or cancellation, will not take affect until it is approved by the Tasmanian Training Agreements Committee (TTAC). In all cases where changes to the Training Contract are required, the nominated Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) should be consulted for advice.
