Supporting Small Business

Supporting Small Business with Apprenticeships and Traineeships Program

The Supporting Small Business with Apprenticeships and Traineeships Program is a new grant program that aims to make it easier for small businesses to employ an apprentice or trainee. The Program will run over two years and has been allocated $600 000 in funding.

Small businesses are vital to Tasmania’s economy, comprising 96% of business in Tasmania. These businesses require support to continue to grow and improve their productivity.

If you are a small businesses with less than 20 employees, you can obtain practical assistance to employ an apprentice or trainee, customised to your needs. Services may include:

  • assistance with obtaining business advice  
  • support to recruit the right person for the business
  • planning the apprentice’s or trainee’s job role and workplace training requirements, and
  • mentoring and advice for the small business and apprentice or trainee.

South

Incorporating the following Council regions:
Brighton, Central Highlands, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan Spring Bay, Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley, Kingborough, Sorell, Southern Midlands and Tasman.
