Benefits of using an RTO

Training for your employees may be conducted either in-house using your own personnel or by using the services of an external training organisation. Some training organisations are registered with state registering bodies and are known as registered training organisations (RTOs) .

RTOs have been through a quality assurance process that guarantees a certain minimum standard of service to their clients. If you use an RTO for your training you can be sure that it:

  • has appropriately qualified training and assessment staff;
  • can issue nationally recognised qualifications;
  • will have a code of practice;
  • will have been audited to meet national standards;
  • will have a process for dealing with your queries and concerns; and
  • can operate across the country.

RTOs will generally provide training based on courses or qualifications which have been developed by industry, often at a national level.

Registered training organisations are recognised providers of quality assured and nationally recognised training.

Only RTOs can:

  • deliver nationally recognised courses and qualifications; and
  • apply for State and Australian Government funding.

Nationally recognised training

The RTO can use the nationally recognised training logo on all qualifications and statements of attainment they issue. It signifies that:
  • the training courses are accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF); and
  • the qualifications issued are nationally recognised by all other RTOs.

This means that you and your employees will be confident that the skills they attain are of a high quality and will be accepted and valued nationwide.

Because RTOs may attract State Government funding, using them to provide your training may be very cost effective for you.

There are many RTOs available providing a wide range of services. Currently there are more than 100 RTOs in Tasmania and over 4000 nationwide giving you the choice to select the RTO which suits you most.
