Dealing with problems

Depending on what the problem is, there are a number of options towards solving it. If the concern is about:

• Wages; contact Workplace Standards Tasmania on (03) 6233 7657 (outside Tasmania) or 1300 366 322 (inside Tasmania) or call the Workplace Authority Infoline on 1300 363 264.
• The training being delivered; contact your registered training organisation first. If you can’t resolve the problem contact the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority (TQA).
• About the service of the training organisation; contact your registered training organisation first. If you can’t resolve the problem contact your Australian Apprenticeships Centre for advice and assistance.
• The service of your Australian Apprenticeships Centre; talk to them. If you can’t resolve the problem contact the Australian Apprenticeships hotline on 13 38 73.
• Australian Government subsidies; contact your Australian Apprenticeships Centre.
• State subsidies, contact Department of Economic Development on 1800 030 688.
• The Training Contract, contact either Skills Tasmania on 1800 655 846, your registered training organisation or an Australian Apprenticeships Centre.

If you are having problems with your business and cannot afford to keep on your apprentice or trainee you must inform your local AAC immediately. If you are considering selling your business the training contract is to be transferred to the new owner. Your AAC will advise you on what steps to take to ensure that your apprentice or trainee is not disadvantaged.
